The Beauty Of Plunge Pools (Plus An Epic Feature Of Our Stunning Plunge Pool Project in Woolooware)

January 16, 2023

Small backyard.

Restricted access.

Yet too many beautiful pool designs to choose from.

If this sounds like your exact dilemma, you’re not alone.

Did you know that according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, block sizes have shrunk by 22% in Australia’s capital cities over the past 15 years? The biggest change has been in Sydney. The average area of land in the capital city in 2005 was 654 square metres. 447 square metres was the standard in 2020, so Sydneysiders have, on average, lost a third of the available land.

Which is why it’s not surprising to know that Australians are now designing their backyard first before they build a home. But what if you already have a home, and you have a small backyard but dream of building an outdoor haven? This is where the beauty of a plunge pool starts to shine brighter.

Plunge pools take the centre stage

One advantage of a smaller pool design is that you can spend more money on luxury finishes like built-in swim jets, heated floors, and lighting fixtures.

When working close to other buildings, such as home footings, retaining walls, boundaries, or even wedged sides of houses and boundaries, a custom-designed concrete plunge pool is a good choice. The addition of a wet edge or a glass panel can also be made to a plunge pool to suit your elevations.

We have custom-designed alternatives or “ready to swim” precast solutions, depending on whether your project calls for an above-ground installation or a conventional in-ground pool. We recommend you check out our Aboveground/Semi-inground Pool Package Deal.

Precast reinforced plunge pools may be delivered right away and are perfect for landscaping projects that are constrained by rocky terrain or a sloped location.

Aaaaand speaking of plunge pools…

Meet Wooloware – one of the most epic and award-winning plunge pool projects we did. The house was scheduled for demolition to make room for new residences after the property owners purchased a duplex site. Because they were early planners, the owner wanted a structure that would naturally fit into the landscape.

The plunge pool was built first to avoid paying for excavation. After casting the shell, our team held off on finishing the project until the house was locked up. Our team had to be extremely careful while building because we had to work around a tall wall that was close to the construction site.

The result? A 4m x 2m plunge pool that stunningly features Australian white pebbles with off-white cement and Travertine surrounds, with a Cartridge filter and manual chlorine setup that’s perfect for an epic pool party at home.

The owners didn’t have to wait or endure the frustration of dealing with construction once more; they were able to move right into their finished home and enjoy a turnkey life. And they were thrilled to keep the brick wall that has served as the pool area’s backdrop.
