“Our pool journey was quite a long one. We’ve had multiple quotes from different teams and we would always end up saying no. Richie put the vision in place, he got what we were talking about, and we felt comfortable, and so we went, okay, yeah, that’s the getting-the-pool story.”

For Giselle, owning a pool has always been a dream. She and her husband grew up going to the local swimming pool, and they’ve always envisioned having their own backyard oasis one day. Having lived in the neighbourhood for more than 30 years now, imagine how many times they’ve attempted to get it done, contacted pool builders, and gotten multiple quotes.

Despite countless attempts, they felt they haven’t found the one yet. They want their dream pool to be exactly how they want it. After all, they have waited for so long, so why settle for anything less, right?

“It’s really the people,” Giselle emphasised when asked about what made them choose Blue Haven. “You can easily tell from the good planning, and the process was better than I anticipated. The team was always on hand and we loved that about Blue Haven.”

And while we can say the rest is history – well, we know you deserve to know the story behind their long pool journey, and how it ended up to a few good summers since the pool was built.

 

The challenges

Imagine diving into your very own dream pool on a hot summer day. Sounds amazing, right? Well, that’s exactly what Giselle had in mind when she decided to work with the Blue Haven team to build her ultimate backyard oasis.

But building a pool is no easy task, especially when you’re dealing with zoning laws and existing landscaping. It was like trying to solve a giant puzzle where every piece needed to fit perfectly. The Blue Haven team faced numerous complexities and challenges along the way, but we were up for the task.

“I think the complexity of the block itself had to do with the slope, and Richie had his good ideas about how to manage the block with the fall away, and talked to us about elevation. From our perspective, it wasn’t about “It’s not an issue so let’s make it a problem – rather, it’s an issue so let’s make a resolution.”

In case you’re not familiar yet with who Richie is, he is our General Manager and Pool Builder Extraordinaire and has been an essential member of the Blue Haven family for over 15 years. He has orchestrated an impressive portfolio of remarkable projects including the recent renovation of our flagship showroom in Lansvale.

Giselle was also so happy with the way the Blue Crew handled her concerns and inquiries, adding “The guys, the boys, were always on hand, you know, I’ll be texting Ritchie, and I’ll be texting Billy, and I’m sure they’ll be going – oh my god, it’s Giselle again. But they never made me feel that way. They were always like, Yep, sure, it’s okay, no problem. It’s almost as if they dealt with that every day.”

A lifestyle-changing positive addition

So, what was the end result of this long pool journey? For Giselle and her family, it was a lifestyle-changing addition to their backyard. When asked what her favourite feature of the pool was, well, aside from the champagne lid, it was the little bench/ledge for her that she really loves.

The feature works so well for Giselle’s mom who’s starting to get a little less mobile, and she would just sit by the corner of the pool and enjoy the waters. And tbh, if you ask us, it’s definitely the perfect spot to relax with a book, soak up some sun, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Although Giselle’s boys are all grown up now, they have no regrets about turning their dream pool into a reality after 30 years of being on the site.

“We’re outside more, we’re home more. Having a pool gives you another option of what you’re doing in your home and you don’t have to go away to feel like you’re on holidays. It’s been a very positive addition.”

Now that her long pool journey has ended, Giselle and her family surely have more amazing summers to look forward to, and special memories to collect for years to come.
