FAQ
Do I get to choose my pool colour?
Absolutely. You can choose from a wide range of high-quality, durable pool colour finishes to suit your home, landscaping and personal style. Whether you’re chasing a light, resort-style look or something deeper and more architectural, we’ll help you select a finish that looks great long-term — not just on day one.
How much does a crane cost for a fibreglass pool?
Crane costs vary depending on access, traffic control, power lines and road closures — and yes, all of that is a normal part of fibreglass pool installation. The good news? We manage the entire process for you. Blue Haven Pools coordinates permits, approvals and crane lifts through a trusted supplier network, keeping pricing transparent, competitive and stress-free.
Can you install a pool in a small backyard?
Yes — and we do it all the time. Blue Haven Pools offers a range of compact and small-yard pool designs that maximise space without compromising on style or functionality. Even tighter blocks can still enjoy a beautifully designed pool when it’s planned properly.
When should I contact Blue Haven Pools if I’m building a new home?
Early. Earlier than most people think. Getting us involved at the planning stage allows your pool to be integrated into your site layout, access points and building schedule — saving time, money and headaches later. We also offer a vacant-block and knock-down rebuild concrete pool program, including options to install the pool shell before the house is built.
Can I add heating to my pool?
Yes — and the smartest move is to plan for it upfront. We recommend installing heating provisions during construction, so your pool is future-ready and heats evenly. We supply and support electric, gas and solar pool heating options, whether you install now or later.
How long does it take to install a pool?
Fibreglass pool installation typically takes around 3–6 weeks, depending on design, site conditions and weather. Before construction begins, you’ll receive clear timelines and notice periods, so you know exactly what to expect once plans are approved and submitted.
Do I need a pool fence?
Yes. Australian regulations require all swimming pools to have a compliant safety fence and a filter box enclosure before final Occupation Certificate approval. We guide you through local council requirements and can coordinate trusted pool fencing and acoustic enclosure suppliers to make compliance simple and fully managed.
Do Blue Haven Pools include child safety features?
Yes. Many of our pools include a built-in child safety ledge, offering a safer, more comfortable space for young swimmers — and a perfect hang-out zone for relaxed family days in the pool
Does Blue Haven Pools offer retaining walls and hardscape solutions?
Yes. We do far more than just the pool. Blue Haven Pools provides integrated retaining walls, hardscaping and structural solutions to suit sloping blocks, split levels and complex sites. By planning these elements alongside your pool design, we ensure everything works together — structurally, visually and financially — with no last-minute surprises.
Can you help remove excess soil from my site?
Absolutely. Excavation generates spoil — and managing it properly matters. We coordinate soil removal, cartage and disposal as part of your project, using licensed operators and approved facilities. You won’t be left wondering where the dirt is going or how to get rid of it — it’s all handled as part of the build.
What if I have restricted or limited backyard access?
At Blue Haven Pools we specialize in tricky access builds. Restricted access is common — and it’s something we plan for every day.
Whether your site has narrow side access, no side access at all, overhead power lines or limited street access, we assess it early and design the build accordingly. Options may include crane installs, temporary access planning or staged construction, all managed by our team to keep your project moving safely and efficiently.
Can fibreglass pools work on difficult sites?
Sometimes — but only within limits. Fibreglass pools can work if:
· Access is wide enough for delivery or crane installation
· The site allows the shell size and shape
· There are no complex retaining or level changes
If any of those boxes aren’t ticked, the design options can become restricted quickly.
Why are concrete pools better for limited or awkward spaces?
Concrete pools are built on-site, allowing us to:
· Customise length, width and depth
· Adjust shapes to suit narrow or irregular yards
· Work around setbacks, easements and services
· Integrate retaining walls and level changes into the design
This makes concrete ideal when the “standard size” just doesn’t work.
What if I have no side access or very limited access?
This is where concrete often wins. Because concrete pools don’t require a full shell delivery, they can be constructed using smaller machinery and staged access solutions, making them suitable for sites with:
· No side access
· Narrow walkways
· Built-up or knock-down rebuild blocks
Fibreglass pools often rely on cranes and clear access paths, which aren’t always feasible.
We offer both solutions.
Are concrete pools more expensive on tricky sites?
Not always — and this surprises many people. While concrete pools typically have a higher base cost, fibreglass installations on difficult sites can attract additional crane, traffic control, road closure and access costs. On some blocks, a custom concrete solution can be more cost-effective overall once access and site constraints are considered.
Which option gives me more control over pool size?
Concrete, every time. If you’re unsure what size pool will work, concrete allows us to design to the exact dimensions your yard can handle — rather than forcing you to compromise around a fixed shell size.
What about slopes and retaining walls?
Concrete pools integrate naturally with retaining walls, split levels and sloping sites. Fibreglass pools generally need a more level excavation and can become complex or limited when significant retaining is required.
How do I know which option is right for my site?
It starts with proper planning — not guessing. At Blue Haven Pools, we assess your site, access, levels and goals, then explain what’s possible, what’s sensible and what will save you pain later. We often show both fibreglass and concrete options side-by-side so you can make an informed decision.
